The DIIN (Industrial Engineering Department) of Salerno has been operating since its foundation in sectors that concern the development of research projects in Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Electronics, and Systems Engineering. Furthermore, it offers Bachelor's and Master's courses in Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Electronics, and System Engineering. Finally, it manages two Ph.D. courses: "Industrial Engineering" and "Innovative Engineering Technologies for Industrial Sustainability".
- Topic 1.1.1-2024 (IA) Sustainability of Mediterranean irrigated agriculture through the implementation of WEFE Nexus approach.

"Automated Drip Irrigation Systems": Smart vehicles equipped with automated drip irrigation systems that deliver water directly to the root zone of plants. These systems can use sensors to monitor soil moisture levels and adjust water flow accordingly, ensuring efficient water uptake by crops and minimizing losses due to evaporation or runoff.
"Soil Moisture Sensing Vehicles": Smart vehicles equipped with soil moisture sensors can traverse the field to collect data on soil moisture levels at various depths. This information helps farmers make informed decisions about irrigation scheduling and water application rates, ensuring that crops receive the right amount of water at the right time to optimize growth and yield.
