National Research Centre (NRC) Is the largest multidisciplinary R&D centre in Egypt, established as an independent public organization in 1956 with the aim “to foster basic and applied scientific research”. It is the largest of all institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Scientific Research .The scientific activity covers major areas of industry, health, environment, crops, livestock, fishery, forestry, agro-industry, food science. The commitment deals with the challenges of the twenty-first century related to food production sustainability, following the principles of the circular, bio-based economy through a multidisciplinary approach that includes innovation transfer.

We are interested in participating in a consortium to build a proposal for reduction of food loss and waste; we have expertise in using vegetable waste or by-products to create value-added products we could be involved in increasing the shelf-life of products through the use of edible coatings (both water and oil-based) and biobased films with antimicrobial and/or antioxidants activity; reuse of food waste and loss in production of packaging or as ingredients in developing novel foods with controlled consistency. We can produce dried ingredients and products utilizing an environmentally friendly, green technology and solar-dryer technology, we also can perform the sensory and nutritional quality characterization of the novel products.
