SEMIDE is an initiative of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, established following a Ministerial conference on freshwater in 1996. It serves as a strategic platform for the exchange of information and knowledge within the water sector among the 43 Euro-Mediterranean countries associated with the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM).
- Topic 1.1.1-2024 (IA) Sustainability of Mediterranean irrigated agriculture through the implementation of WEFE Nexus approach.
- Topic 1.2.1-2024 (IA) Transformative Adaptation of Mediterranean dry farming systems using water harvesting techniques to address extreme drought in arid and semi-arid environments.
- Topic 1.3.1-2024 (IA) – Developing cost-effective and sustainable technologies adapted to Mediterranean Food Systems to decrease food loss and waste.
-
SEMIDE has a wide network in the Euro-med countries and can bring demo sites or partners from southern med countries.
Drawing upon substantial expertise in natural-based solutions, agriculture, irrigation, water management, and nexus issues, SEMIDE is keen on participating in a consortium for a proposal aligned with Section 1: Thematic Area 1 - Water management in the Nexus, Thematic Area 2 - Farming systems in the Nexus, and Thematic Area 3 - Food value chain in the Nexus.
Within the consortium, SEMIDE is prepared to take a lead role in specific work packages, including Impact Maximization, Stakeholder Engagement, Networking with International Initiatives, Exploitation, financial mechanisms, Business Models, and Communication Dissemination activities. -
