The University of Aveiro (UA) is a public foundation operating under private law. Its primary objective is to provide advanced education and training through graduate and postgraduate programs, as well as conduct research and collaborate with society.
Founded in 1973, the University of Aveiro (UA) was instrumental in launching various study programs across several knowledge domains. As a result of its commitment to quality education, cutting-edge research, and regional and national business partnerships, UA has become one of the most innovative universities in Portugal.
The UA is made up of organizational units within the university sub-system (16 departments) and the polytechnic sub-system (four schools), which include the teachers responsible for teaching their courses. An integral part of the university's structure is a set of units dedicated to various research activities, and within the framework of the third university mission (cooperation with society), there are interface structures that establish links with both the local region and society as a whole.
The University of Aveiro is currently leading or participating in almost 130 international projects, 256 cooperation contracts, 78 research and development projects, and 23 patent applications. In addition, the university has 19 active spinoffs, which showcases its dynamic and innovative profile.
