OPEN TO COLLABORATE IN REDUCING FOOD LOSSES

The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) is the largest university in Greece (ranked #363 in the Best Global Universities). AUTH participates in research projects, collaborates with international institutions and organizations, and draws exceptional researchers from both Greece and beyond. Additionally, AUTH actively participates in a large number of European research programs and projects.
Our fruit science group focuses on the investigation of postharvest fruit quality traits and on the application of techniques to reduce fruit losses. We work in a fully equipped laboratory to carry out fruit postharvest physiology experiments, including modern cold storage rooms. The human resources of the Pomology laboratory consist of 2 professors, 2 postdocs, 4 PhD candidates, and 5 postgraduate students. In the last five years, the Pomology laboratory participated in more than 10 projects related to postharvest fruit quality. Additionally, in the last five years, the most relevant publication records associated with the current call include 2 publications in Food Chemistry, 3 publications in Postharvest Biology and Technology, e.t.c.

We are interested in participating in a consortium for topic 1.3.1-2024 (IA). Our team consists of expert scientists who can contribute to the following fields:
-Green technology applications to reduce food losses and waste
-Genetic-based selection of plant varieties with enhanced shelf-life and suitability for long-term storage.
