The groups have experience in coordinating national and EU funded projects.
Under the activities of Food research groups there are 17 laboratories for advance food safety and quality analyses, along with a pilot plant and a Food Innovation Center equipped with 9 Pilot Processing Lines including more than 300 food process equipment. These facilities encompass a wide range of specialties, including Dairy Processing, Fermented Fruit Processing, Hazelnut Processing (including mini chocolate processing), Herbal Extraction Processing, Minimally Processed Food, Pomegranate Processing, Ready to Eat Meal Processing, Seafood Processing and Starter Culture studies.
Especially within the INNOFOOD Project, the research groups aims to contribute to and support a powerful and competitive food and beverage industry sector in Türkiye. INNOFOOD serves as a significant infrastructure investment project, establishing research, laboratory and innovation facilities in support of SMEs and start-ups. To this end, a communication network and a cluster platform, Food Innovation Platform of Türkiye, TÜGİP have been formed to engage all stakeholders in the food and beverage sector. Up to now more than 160 members including SMEs, industry representatives and academics have registered to the Platform and there is a strong collaboration with the members covering a quite wide range of food research.
