Our Institute is a research and educational institution that conducts national and international education and research in many fields of agriculture.

We have identified the areas that we will need in the project. The topic we plan to submit a proposal for PRIMA is the Farming System in Section 1 (Topic 1.2.1-2024 (IA) Transformative Adaptation of Mediterranean dry farming systems using water harvesting techniques to address extreme drought in arid and semi-arid environments).

In short, our project idea is as follows.

Our initiative is focused on advancing sustainable agriculture within the Mediterranean region, addressing critical challenges such as water scarcity, contamination of natural water resources, soil degradation, insufficient biodiversity preservation, and food security. Our aim involves the application of nature-based solutions, utilizing a multidisciplinary methodology to enhance soil vitality. This is coupled with an innovative water harvesting system, employing state-of-the-art technology, and the reintroduction of crop varieties that are optimally adapted to arid and semi-arid conditions. In addition, we place significant emphasis on the analysis of data and the development of corresponding tools. These are designed to facilitate marketing strategies, enable efficient knowledge transfer, and support the establishment of large demonstration sites along with socio-economic evaluations. This NEXUS approach provides a well-rounded solution to the complexities associated with sustainable agriculture.
