Our Institute is a research and training institution that aims to increase productivity and quality in agricultural production, protect and sustainably use natural and genetic resources, and conduct national and international education and research. Our center conducts research on a wide range of topics related to agriculture. Our areas of expertise include water harvesting, crop-growth modeling, hydrological modeling, climate change, wastewater, land reclamation, drainage, greenhouse gas emissions, plant nutrition, and sustainable agricultural systems.
- Topic 1.1.1-2024 (IA) Sustainability of Mediterranean irrigated agriculture through the implementation of WEFE Nexus approach. | Topic 2.1.1-2024 (RIA ) Effective water accounting approaches under crisis conditions: climate change and external shocks
- Topic 1.2.1-2024 (IA) Transformative Adaptation of Mediterranean dry farming systems using water harvesting techniques to address extreme drought in arid and semi-arid environments. | Topic 2.2.1 (RIA ) Revitalizing agroforestry practices for sustainable land use and climate resilience in the Mediterranean region
- Topic 1.3.1-2024 (IA) – Developing cost-effective and sustainable technologies adapted to Mediterranean Food Systems to decrease food loss and waste.

Dear Prospective Partners,
My colleagues and I are planning to take on the role of coordinators and we are currently seeking partners.
We are currently looking for cooperation in the following areas:
1. Development of fog catcher technologies and evaluation of the resulting water quality.
2. Development of efficient agrovoltaic systems and evaluation of the impact on crop yields.
3. Application of solar panels and evaluation of the impact on energy production.
4. Development and application of compost and vermicompost methods and evaluation of the impact on soil health and crop yields.
5. Assessment of the impact of agricultural practices on human health and development of methods to mitigate negative impacts.
6. Life cycle assessment of agricultural practices and techno-economic and environmental evaluation of the systems to be implemented.
7. Development and evaluation of efficient value chains, different organizational and business models for agricultural products.
8. Development of efficient methods for biochar production from various types of waste biomass and evaluation of its impact on soil health, crop yield and water quality.
9. Develop effective phytoremediation strategies for various types of pollutants and evaluate the effectiveness of phytoremediation.
10. Evaluation of the ability to reuse treated wastewater for agricultural purposesWe also need the following resources:
1. A large pond for water collection.
2. Extensive agricultural land for vines cultivation (alternatives can be considered).
3. Supply of treated wastewater (preferably treated with MBR, though alternatives can be considered). Regular analyses to determine the quality of the treated wastewater will be required. A large area of land where the treated wastewater can be applied is also needed. These two locations should ideally be in close proximity.
4. Large agricultural lands for the application of agrovoltaics.
5. Expansive areas of land for the application of solar panels. If you or your organization align with any of the above-mentioned criteria, we would be delighted to hear from you.
IMPORTANT: WHEN CONTACTING US, PLEASE MAKE SURE TO SPECIFY THE SECTION THAT IS RELEVANT TO YOU AND GIVE A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF HOW YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE. YOUR INSIGHTS WILL BE VALUABLE TO US.
