EDAFOTEC Nature Based Solutions SL is a technology-based consultancy and engineering SME created in 2012 in Spain. We select and implement technologies to rehabilitate degraded soils and water, and landscape restoration. Our main product is artificial soil, which is made with organic and inorganic wastes combined by a specific formula that imitate natural soils and can rehabilitate degraded soils.

EDAFOTEC can design and monitor the application of artificial soil on a chosen pilot to increase soil water retention capacity. Artificial soils are made of both organic and inorganic wastes, which promotes waste valorization and circular economy. This specific soil will have high water retention capacity, in addition to providing nutrients for plant growth and enhancing soil carbon sequestration. Once applied to the target soil, its effects will last for years, and it will not need to be reapplied. With the implementation of this soil, agricultural production will be improved while the costs of irrigation and chemical fertilization are reduced.
