Local food markets in the Southern and Northern Mediterranean (alternative food networks, sustainable (short) value chains)

The University of Kassel was founded in 1971 and currently has more than 24,000 students, around 300 full professorships and around 3,000 academic, technical and administrative staff. One
focus for many years has been on research into the human dimensions of socio-ecological
systems with a particular focus on water and sustainable agriculture. The Section of International Agricultural Policy and Environmental Governance deals with European and international agricultural and environmental policies. It critically evaluates their impacts on regional and local socio-ecological food systems and the natural environment. One regional research focus is on countries of the Southern and Northern Mediterranean.

We are looking for partners (research and practice) for a proposal (Topic 2.3.1) on local food markets in the Southern and Northern Mediterranean (alternative food networks, sustainable (short) value chains). We are most interested in partners with proven expertise in food system analysis, value chain analysis, ICT, equity analysis, and nutritional analysis in Egypt, Jordan, Croatia, and Slovenia.
