INRGREF is a multidisciplinary research institution. It is a legal entity and placed under the legal restraint of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources. The Institute principal mission is given to contribute to the development of the National Research Policy in the areas of Water, Forestry and Rural Engineering, and participate in the development of scientific and technological research and its integration into the economic and social fields. Its main activities focus on research to address rural engineering and irrigation water management. INRGREF participated in several projects funded by National/Regional/ Interregional, European and International programs on different topics in relation to agricultural water resources management and operation, water and soil conservation, water-energy-food nexus and forestry Research. Over the long period, INRGREF has built close relationships with a number of international institutions and maintain close cooperation with several national and governmental institutions.
- Topic 1.1.1-2024 (IA) Sustainability of Mediterranean irrigated agriculture through the implementation of WEFE Nexus approach.
- Topic 1.2.1-2024 (IA) Transformative Adaptation of Mediterranean dry farming systems using water harvesting techniques to address extreme drought in arid and semi-arid environments.

We are actively seeking collaborators possessing expertise in water management, energy efficiency, agricultural practices, ecosystem conservation, and policy development. Our intended collaboration aims to facilitate the integration of interdisciplinary solutions, policy recommendations, and innovative technologies to optimize resource utilization and mitigate environmental impacts within the realm of irrigated agriculture.
As the INRGREF team, we have demonstrated success in executing various international projects, wherein we have provided viable solutions considering the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) nexus and their practical application in arid and semi-arid regions.
Furthermore, our collaboration extends to encompass our proficiency in water harvesting technologies, soil conservation techniques, climate adaptation strategies, and community engagement initiatives. Together, we will endeavor to formulate and execute transformative adaptation strategies that bolster the resilience of dry farming systems against extreme weather events, all while advocating for sustainable land management practices.
In addition to our expertise, our collaboration presents an opportunity to contribute to pioneering research endeavors, engage in fieldwork and technology showcases, partake in knowledge exchange activities, and actively shape policy dialogues aimed at fostering sustainable agriculture and resilience across the Mediterranean region.
Should your project share our commitment to addressing sustainability challenges within Mediterranean agriculture and seek to leverage our collective expertise, we are poised to provide substantial added value, enriching the project's outcomes through our extensive knowledge and experience in these domains. -
