Now, we are a member of Adaptation Research Alliance(https://www.adaptationresearchalliance.org/) after setting up COP 28. - Topic 1.1.1-2024 (IA) Sustainability of Mediterranean irrigated agriculture through the implementation of WEFE Nexus approach.
- Topic 1.2.1-2024 (IA) Transformative Adaptation of Mediterranean dry farming systems using water harvesting techniques to address extreme drought in arid and semi-arid environments.
- Topic 1.3.1-2024 (IA) – Developing cost-effective and sustainable technologies adapted to Mediterranean Food Systems to decrease food loss and waste.
-
We are writing to express our strong interest in collaborating on the PRIMA program's research topics 1.1.1-2024, 1.2.1-2024, and 1.3.1-2024, focusing on the sustainability and resilience of Mediterranean agriculture and food systems. As a civil society organization seeking research status, we believe our unique perspective, community connections, and expertise can significantly contribute to these crucial areas.
Our Commitment to the WEFE Nexus Approach:
We are deeply committed to the WEFE (Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem) Nexus approach as a holistic framework for addressing the complex challenges facing Mediterranean agriculture. We believe that collaborative research efforts focused on integrating water management, energy efficiency, food production, and ecosystem health are essential for long-term sustainability.
Proposed Collaboration Areas:
Topic 1.1.1-2024: We are particularly interested in collaborating on research projects exploring the social and economic dimensions of WEFE Nexus implementation in irrigated agriculture. We can contribute to participatory action research, community engagement activities, and policy analysis to ensure equitable and inclusive solutions.
Topic 1.2.1-2024: Our expertise lies in supporting small-scale farmers and marginalized communities. We can collaborate on research projects that evaluate and develop water harvesting technologies adapted to local contexts, while promoting knowledge transfer and capacity building among farmers.
Topic 1.3.1-2024: We are passionate about reducing food loss and waste across the food chain. We can contribute to research projects exploring innovative technologies, sustainable practices, and consumer behavior change strategies tailored to the Mediterranean region. Our Strengths as a Potential Research Partner:
Strong Community Connections: We have established relationships with local communities, farmers' organizations, and other relevant stakeholders, allowing for effective research implementation and dissemination of findings.
Commitment to Participatory Research: We believe in involving diverse stakeholders in the research process, ensuring the project's relevance and impact on communities.
Focus on Social Impact: We are driven by a desire to contribute to positive social and environmental change through our research activities.Next Steps:
We are eager to discuss potential collaboration opportunities and explore how our organization can contribute to these important research topics. We are open to participating in consortium proposals or initiating individual research projects aligned with our expertise and interests.
Thank you for considering our proposal. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
