Alexandria University comprises many Faculties of different disciplens, ours is the Faculty of Science, Botany and Microbiology Department where we offer B Sc to undergraduate students and research and M Sc or Ph D to post graduate students through research. My lab is specialized in research in the field of Plant Virology.
- Topic 1.3.1-2023 (RIA) Increasing agri-food supply chain (cereal) resilience in the MENA region.
-
We propose working in a consortium with others on evaluation of infection in cereal varieties to virus / plant pathogens infection in addition to resistance of climate change stress factors as a means of enhancement of Agrofood value chain (cereals), to achieve reselience in the MENA region. As outlined in these documents Egypt population is over 100 million and defiency in cereal production may cause disturbance in food security. It is a threatening challenge that requires efficient monitoring and evaluation. We propose detection, characterization and control measures to overcome challenges.
-
cereal crops, virus detection, climate change stress, resistant varieties.
-
We have an extended experience working on serological and molecular tools for virus detection identification and characterization of many economically important viruses of major crops as an essential tool in limiting virus diseases.
