The Central Metallurgical Research and Development Institute (CMRDI) is a research institute affiliated with the Ministry of Scientific Research. The institute's mission is to enhance the competitiveness of the Egyptian industry and the welfare of society through technological development and technology transfer.

The Advanced Digital Manufacturing (ADM) Department at CMRDI is a national research department in Egypt considered the largest department in Egypt in the field of laser and additive manufacturing, with investments of over 100M L.e.
The ADM department has sound experience in performing multidisciplinary industry-linked research projects funded by national and international organizations such as EU-H2020, FP7, JICA, and STDF.The ADM offers expertise in the following technologies:
• Additive Manufacturing (3D printing) such as Selective Laser Melting (SLM), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Laser Metal Deposition (LMD) and Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM).
• Laser material processing (cutting, welding, surface treatment (melting, cladding, engraving, and marking).
