Seed-derived microbial bio-fertilizers represent a climate-smart innovation within a comprehensive renewable agriculture ecosystem aligned with the Water–Energy–Food–Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus. By isolating and optimizing endophytic bacterial strains from wheat seeds, this platform enables tailored microbial consortia adaptable to diverse Mediterranean agroecological conditions, including varying climates, water availability, and cropping cycles. Integrated with Agrivoltaics, community stakeholder participation, and advanced sensors and data-driven analyses, the approach enhances nutrient efficiency, soil health, and plant resilience while optimizing water and energy use across crop and livestock systems. Through collaboration with academic and regional partners, this model can be institutionalized and equitably scaled to strengthen cross-sectoral governance, community engagement, and policy uptake across the Mediterranean WEFE Nexus Community of Practice.
