The University of Khemis Miliana is a public institution under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Algeria. Our laboratory has a wide experience in sustainable management of water and soil resources in the Mediterranean area, a region already heavily distressed by the impacts of climate change and where drylands cover already 34% of the land surface. Having the necessary infrastructure for the plant-soil interactions research as well as wide cooperation with stakeholders.
- Topic 1.1.1-2024 (IA) Sustainability of Mediterranean irrigated agriculture through the implementation of WEFE Nexus approach. | Topic 2.1.1-2024 (RIA ) Effective water accounting approaches under crisis conditions: climate change and external shocks
- Topic 1.2.1-2024 (IA) Transformative Adaptation of Mediterranean dry farming systems using water harvesting techniques to address extreme drought in arid and semi-arid environments. | Topic 2.2.1 (RIA ) Revitalizing agroforestry practices for sustainable land use and climate resilience in the Mediterranean region

We are available to join a consortium with partners, to develop projects in the Mediterranean around topics related to improvement of water security and preservation of environmental flows in the Mediterranean region through increased knowledge of patterns of water availability, demand, and distribution. By combining expertise in agriculture, water management, and climate resilience, we aim with this collaboration to develop sustainable solutions that enhance the resilience of irrigated perimeters and dry farming practices in arid and semi-arid zones. We are also interested in collaborating on projects related to water harvesting, the efficient use of water in agriculture, sustainable land use, irrigation, and climate change resilience.
