The National Centre for Nuclear Energy, Science and Technology (CNESTEN) is a state owned institution with legal and financial autonomy and operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Energy, mine, Environment, Mine and Water.
It was established in 1986 in order to promote, at the national level, the applications of nuclear science and technology for benefit of scientific and socio-economic development of the country.
Indeed, the CNESTEN has been assigned four main missions:
• Developing scientific research in nuclear science and technology;
• Promoting nuclear science and technology application in social and economic sectors ;
• Contributing to the development of nuclear infrastructure for a nuclear program ;
• Acting as a technical support organization to the national authorities in the fields of radiation and nuclear safety and security, safeguards, emergency preparedness and response.
The major programs of our center:
According to its strategic objectives, CNESTEN undertakes several scientific and technical programs in various areas of nuclear application such as:
• Agriculture (use the nuclear and isotopic techniques to study food traceability, soil erosion, soil fertility, soil water and irrigation) ;
• Water and Climate (use of nuclear and isotopic techniques to study water cycle and climate)
• Environment and natural resources (contribution of nuclear analytical techniques for pollution assessment in soil, air, river and marine mediums and valorization of natural resources;
• Health and life sciences. - Topic 2.2.1 (RIA) A step toward carbon-neutral farms: coupling renewable energy sources with circular farming systems.
- Topic 2.3.1-2023 (RIA) Assessing novel antimicrobial food packaging and coating materials to reduce food waste to improve safety in the Mediterranean food supply chain.
-
Looking for a consortium to contribute to the Topic 2.2.1 (RIA)” A step toward carbon-neutral farms: coupling renewable energy sources with circular farming systems”, providing expertise on new technologies (isotopic and nuclear techniques) with a view to contributing to the sustainable management of natural resources in agriculture within the framework of the current climate challenges
