We are interested in participating in two topics -
Topic 1.1.1-2021 (RIA) Sustainable soil and water management for combating land degradation and desertification and promoting ecosystem restoration.
Topic 1.4.1-2021 (IA) Leveraging knowledge on the Nexus management of Water-EnergyFood-Ecosystems resources in the Mediterranean region: from concepts to practical solutions.
A fundamental part of our work is to maintain a sustainable soil and water management system. Since Israel is a desert country on the east south of the Mediterranean sea, we have accumulated a vast experience of combating land degradation and desertification. Also, we are managing the ecosystem restoration efforts in the largest wetlands in the middle east - ‘Lake HaHula’.
DESCRIPTION OF YOUR ORGANISATION:
Our organisation, Keren Kayemet l’Israel (KKL), is the largest environment organisation in Israel with more than 120 years of activity in water and land preservation. KKL is also the official forestry authority of Israel and as such, the organisation is managing more than 100,000 hectares of land which includes wetlands water bodies and different types of land which require us to develop expertise in soil and water management.
The Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area will devise new R&I approaches to improve water availability and sustainable agriculture production in a region heavily distressed by climate change, urbanisation and population growth
The PRIMA programme is an Art.185 initiative supported and funded under Horizon 2020, the European Union’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
