We specialize in plant ecology, ecosystem assessment, and sustainable land management, with expertise in vegetation functions, biodiversity, and the resilience of Mediterranean ecosystems.
The BIOMAT Laboratory, directed by Mohamed Chaieb, will contribute expertise in plant ecology and ecosystem assessment. The team will study the role of vegetation in soil stabilization, water retention, and ecosystem functions in areas surrounding non-perennial watercourses. Their work will support the development of evidence-based strategies for the protection and restoration of Mediterranean ecosystems, providing essential ecological data for project planning and decision-making.
