The Unit of Agronomy and Crop Science of the Department of Veterinary Science, University of Messina (Italy), provides worldwide research leadership in the subjects of agronomy, agroecology, agroforestry, food, weed science, fodder and crops for alternative uses for the transition to sustainable agriculture for the Mediterranean area. The mission is to foster the adoption of profitable, environmentally sound, and socially responsive agricultural systems through tailored agronomic practices and resilient strategies to reduce agriculture impact.
I offer the expertise of my research group to a consortium contributing to Topic 2.2.1 “Novel remote and non-invasive ICT monitoring and control systems against disease and pest infestation”. Our team brings strong experience in the design and implementation of field experiments focused on eco-friendly weed management practices in Mediterranean cropping systems with the aim of reducing the use of herbicides. While weed management represents the main core area, our methodological approach can be readily extended to the detection and management of other pests and diseases, ensuring a comprehensive and integrated crop protection strategy.
