DOP “Aceite de Lucena” is the Regulatory Council overseeing the Protected Designation of Origin for extra virgin olive oil produced in Lucena and its surrounding area (Córdoba, Spain). It represents 11 member producers across a delimited territory of approximately 90,000 hectares, mainly cultivated with the Hojiblanca olive variety. Beyond certification and quality control, the organisation is actively engaged in European research collaboration and is seeking partnerships as a real-world pilot site for R&D in agriculture, olive oil processing, digitalisation, and sustainability.

Potential collaboration opportunities with research groups and universities working on European-funded projects within the olive oil sector. We would welcome the opportunity to act as a stakeholder/pilot or demonstration partner, offering real production territory, an established network of certified producers, and practical validation conditions for research and technological development in areas such as:
1.Agriculture and ecology applied to olive groves for olive oil production
2.Agricultural machinery
3.Agricultural logistics
4.Extra virgin olive oil extraction processes and contamination risk prevention
5.Digitalisation of olive mills
6.Packaging technologies
7.Commercialisation and market development
8.Olive oil tourism
As a Protected Designation of Origin with direct access to producers, olive groves, and mills across our territory, we believe we can offer valuable field conditions, stakeholder engagement, and dissemination capacity for consortium-based research initiatives.
