The ARC in Egypt is a vast, centralized institution that serves as the backbone of the country’s agricultural research and development . It operates under the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation and is organized into a large number of specialized units. These include 16 research institutes (e.g., Horticulture Research Institute, Cotton Research Institute, and Animal Health Research Institute) and 13 central laboratories. This structure allows it to cover a wide range of agricultural disciplines.
Citriculture, a vital component of the global horticultural economy, faces unprecedented threats from climate change, including increased temperatures, erratic precipitation, soil and water salinity, and the proliferation of pests and diseases.
