Development and improvement of silvopastoral systems for the management of semi-arid oak forests in the face of global changes

TOPICS

KEYWORDS

Development and improvement, silvo-pastoral systems, the sustainable management, oak forests, global changes.

DESCRIPTION

This project seeks active collaboration among researchers who work with similar Mediterranean oak and scrub ecosystems. These ecosystems face management and adaptation challenges in the face of climate and anthropogenic changes. In the southern Mediterranean, few management transformations are carried out on these ecosystems; however, in the northern Mediterranean, many management operations are practiced, such as the DEHESSA (Desert and Forest Management Areas). An exchange of experiences between partners, exchanges of visits, and knowledge transfer can contribute to the improvement, maintenance, and development of these ecosystems. This project contributes to the sustainable development of semi-arid ecosystems by maintaining the plant communities, the population, and the flora and fauna.

REMARKS

This sustainable development project aims to improve and maintain forest structures and improve pastoral management systems, while enriching and safeguarding local biodiversity.
