temperate fruit trees, sustainable fruit development, biotic and abiotic stress, fruit breeding, orchard management
We are seeking to join consortia applying under the PRIMA 2025 calls, particularly under Topics 1.2.1 and 2.2.1, with a focus on sustainable farming systems and agroecological practices in the Mediterranean region. Our institution is a public research institute specialized in temperate fruit species, with extensive experience in cultivar development, breeding for disease resistance, and sustainable orchard management practices. We are particularly interested in contributing to work packages related to the implementation of agroecological approaches in fruit production systems, including low-input cultivation, biodiversity enhancement, and climate-resilient practices. We can offer long-term experimental orchards, access to diverse genetic material, and expertise in both traditional and innovative breeding techniques. We are open to collaborative roles in pilot studies, field trials, stakeholder engagement, and dissemination activities, especially within the context of fruit-growing systems adapted to Mediterranean wetland areas or agroecological transition pathways.
Our institution has a long-standing commitment to advancing sustainable horticultural practices in alignment with regional and international goals. We are highly motivated to contribute to multidisciplinary collaborations aimed at enhancing the resilience and sustainability of Mediterranean agroecosystems. In addition to our technical expertise, we bring strong institutional support, a history of successful national and international project involvement, and well-established networks with growers, extension services, and public stakeholders. We are particularly enthusiastic about contributing to knowledge exchange and co-creation processes with Mediterranean partners to foster integrated, scalable, and locally adapted solutions.
