Cairo, 24-26 June 2025 – PRIMA is delighted to play a part in the Second International Smart & Green Agriculture Forum, taking place in Cairo. The Forum provides an energetic setting for member states and participants to unveil their latest ideas in sustainable farming, climate-smart technology, and future-focused food systems.
As a steady partner in the EU´s science diplomacy and cooperation efforts, PRIMA will join the Forum both at the institutional level and through the hands-on involvement of several funded projects. Egypt, a founding PRIMA Participating State, continues to lead collaborative Mediterranean research that tackles common environmental and socio-economic problems.
Since 2018, PRIMA has supported 92 projects in Egypt, involving 123 local beneficiaries, including 2 coordinators, with a total funding of €17 million. Of these, 31 projects are focused on the agri-food sector, representing over €5.5 million—evidence of Egypt’s strong engagement in building resilient and sustainable food systems.
At AGRITECH Egypt 2025 PRIMA will showcase the following initiatives:
🔹 PLANT-B project: Prof. Souad A. Shairra, from the Agricultural Research Center (ARC), Egypt, and a partner in the PLANT-B project, will be a panelist during Session Three: “Food Security – Agriculture 5.0: Technologies, Innovations, Solutions”, on 25 June from 10:00–11:30.
🔹 TRACE-RICE, AWESOME, and NEXUS-NESS projects: These three projects, will be featured and represented by their Egyptian partners, in the exhibition area, presenting their contributions to food traceability, water-smart practices, and nexus-based resource management.
PRIMA’s involvement in AGRITECH Egypt 2025 underlines its commitment to Mediterranean-wide cooperation for sustainable agriculture and rural transformation. The initiative not only supports research excellence but also ensures that solutions are context-appropriate, inclusive, and scalable.
As the EU continues to invest in climate-resilient agriculture, Egypt’s collaboration through PRIMA remains a cornerstone of this evolving partnership—driving innovation, supporting farmers, and strengthening food security in the region.
