FINNOVA FOUNDATION is a Spanish Belgian foundation with a solid European projection, specialized in promoting innovation through EU legislation, funding mechanisms, and open innovation methodologies. The foundation actively participates in and manages European projects under key programmes such as Horizon Europe, LIFE, Erasmus+, and Interreg, fostering sustainable development and institutional cooperation across Europe and beyond.
One of FINNOVA’s core strengths lies in its communication and dissemination capabilities, which are essential to ensure project visibility, stakeholder engagement, and long-term impact. The foundation develops tailored communication strategies using a quadruple helix approach (involving academia, industry, public authorities, and civil society), creates visual identities and outreach materials, manages multilingual digital channels (websites, social media, newsletters), and organises events such as conferences, webinars, and workshops to promote knowledge transfer and policy dialogue at the EU level.
In the field of sustainable agriculture, FINNOVA has led pioneering projects such as NEXTFUMIGREEN, which promotes ecological alternatives to chemical pesticides, and HIBA+, dedicated to the digitalisation and traceability of agri-food systems under the Interreg SUDOE framework. The Smart Digital Agriculture (SDA) project further exemplifies the Foundation’s commitment to precision farming and technological replication in countries such as Morocco.
In the area of circular economy and youth employment, NextTextileGeneration encourages training and green jobs in the textile sector by focusing on reuse and recycling practices. Marine and coastal protection is another strategic priority. Initiatives like One Blue promote marine ecosystem preservation through the blue economy, while COSTADAPTA develops innovative responses to climate change and rising sea levels in coastal zones such as the Canary Islands.
Regarding water and sanitation, LIFE ECODIGESTION 2.0 stands out for its transformative model, converting organic waste into biogas using smart anaerobic digestion systems, thereby improving the energy efficiency of wastewater treatment plants. Thanks to its diversified and strategic project portfolio, FINNOVA has proven its ability to coordinate international consortia, scale up replicable sustainable solutions, and transfer knowledge to new geographical areas, especially in emerging regions such as South-Mediterranean countries, Africa and Latin America.
