DESCRIPTION

The “Gian Pietro Ballatore” Research Consortium, a public body funded by the Agricultural Department of the Sicilian Region, seeks to establish strategic partnerships within the framework of the PRIMA programme to co-develop innovative, sustainable, and climate-resilient agri-food systems in the Mediterranean area. The Consortium is particularly interested in joining transnational consortia addressing the following PRIMA priorities: Sustainable management of natural resources in cereal-based cropping systems Climate-smart agriculture and valorization of local genetic resources (with focus on durum wheat and Mediterranean biodiversity) Circular economy approaches and low-impact processing technologies for cereal products Quality schemes, traceability, and labelling strategies for value chain transparency and territorial identity Capacity building and multi-actor approaches involving farmers, SMEs, research bodies, and public institutions With extensive expertise in durum wheat research, quality system implementation, and innovation transfer to the agri-food sector, the Consortium offers: A robust network of stakeholders in the Sicilian cereal chain Experimental fields and laboratories for cereal analysis Long-standing experience in EU and national projects A strong commitment to knowledge dissemination and policy support at regional and Mediterranean scale The Consortium is open to both leading and supporting roles within proposals and welcomes collaborations with research institutions, universities, SMEs, NGOs, and policy actors across the Mediterranean.
