DESCRIPTION OF YOUR ORGANISATION:
The Hellenic Agricultural Organization-DEMETER (HAO), was established under the Joint Ministerial Decision 188763/10-10-2011(FEK 2284/Β/13-10-2011) with the merge of the former National Agricultural Research Foundation (NAGREF) and 3 other public organisations. The mission of HAO is to conduct research, promote innovation and technology, disseminate knowledge, provide advisory services as well as vocational education and training in all sectors of the agro-food chain, ensure the quality of agricultural products and food, the application of good practices in agriculture and control in the milk and meat production and distribution chain in the country.
The Institute of Technology of Agricultural Products (ITAP) is the only research Institute in the broader public sector that deals with the quality, safety, processing and preservation of foodstuff, wines and spirits. Three of its laboratories are ISO 17025 accredited: Microbiological analysis, Physico-chemical analysis laboratory and Genetic Identification laboratory. A significant number of research projects has been funded by the EU and national bodies and implemented at the Institute or are in progress. Through these projects, the
Institute has established very good collaboration with many Universities and Research Centers in Greece and abroad. Moreover, cooperation with the Greek food industry is constantly increasing in various forms (research projects, cooperation agreements and technical support services). The results of the research are published in international and national journals and announced in conference proceedings. It employs 16 permanent staff researchers and qualified scientific technical staff for accredited laboratories as well as staff for secretarial and accounting support.
The Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area will devise new R&I approaches to improve water availability and sustainable agriculture production in a region heavily distressed by climate change, urbanisation and population growth
The PRIMA programme is an Art.185 initiative supported and funded under Horizon 2020, the European Union’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
