The Water, Environment and Climate Change Centre (WEC), part of the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) in Jordan, seeks to join a PRIMA consortium as a committed partner in the water, environment, climate resilience, and food security domains. With decades of applied research and project implementation, WEC has established a strong track record in addressing water scarcity, environmental sustainability, and climate change challenges in Jordan and across the MENA region.
The Centre has successfully implemented pilot, research, and technical projects in collaboration with leading international partners, including the European Union, GIZ, JICA, AFD, UNDP, GEF, SIDA, and USAID. WECC brings practical, field-driven expertise in integrated water resources management, wastewater treatment and reuse, climate-smart agriculture, and environmental monitoring.
In response to growing food security challenges, WEC has expanded its work to include sustainable agriculture and climate-adaptive farming systems. This includes projects on efficient irrigation technologies, water-energy-food nexus approaches, use of non-conventional water resources (such as treated wastewater), and the integration of renewable energy in agriculture. The Centre also contributes to the development and testing of resilient cropping systems, aiming to enhance productivity under water-scarce and climate-stressed conditions.
Its multidisciplinary team offers solid capabilities in water auditing, climate risk assessment, environmental impact assessment, and techno-economic analysis, ensuring that proposed solutions are both scientifically sound and practically applicable. In addition, WEC is actively engaged in applied research, capacity building, and multi-stakeholder engagement, enabling the Centre to effectively bridge the gap between research and real-world implementation—an essential factor for delivering impactful PRIMA projects.

The Centre prioritizes projects that move beyond research into pilot implementation and scalable solutions across the Mediterranean region.
WEC brings applied expertise in integrated water resources management, wastewater reuse, climate-smart agriculture, and resource-efficient food production. It contributes through field testing, technology validation, and techno-economic analysis, ensuring practical and cost-effective outcomes.
The Centre supports pilot implementation in Jordan and the MENA region, offering access to local stakeholders and demonstration sites, alongside capacity building and knowledge transfer to ensure long-term impact and scalability.
WEC is ready to actively contribute to proposal development, including defining technical work packages and aligning project concepts with PRIMA priorities. The Centre offers immediate access to pilot and demonstration sites in Jordan, particularly in water-scarce and climate-vulnerable areas.
WEC is currently involved in the development of a PRIMA project proposal, reflecting its active engagement and familiarity with PRIMA priorities and requirements. The Centre is open to creating synergies or aligning efforts where relevant.
WEC is open to flexible roles within the consortium (partner or task leader) and is committed to timely coordination and high-quality delivery. The Centre is also interested in long-term collaboration beyond a single project, aiming to build scalable solutions with measurable impact across the region.
