Researcher/PI in socio-cultural and economic/ecological anthropology seeking to join or co-develop PRIMA consortia across the WEFE Nexus topics. Expertise focuses on culturally embedded patterns of production, reproduction and consumption in Mediterranean societies, and how these shape the adoption, governance and long-term sustainability of innovations.
Contribution to Thematic Area 1 (Water management): analysis of social acceptance, local knowledge systems and governance practices related to decentralised desalination and water allocation, particularly in non-perennial watercourses and rural communities.
Contribution to Thematic Area 2 (Farming systems): study of farmer behaviour, socio-economic constraints and cultural drivers influencing the uptake of alternative feeds, as well as responses to ICT-based monitoring systems for pests and diseases.
Contribution to Thematic Area 3 (Food value chains): assessment of socio-cultural factors in local processing, value creation and consumer trust, including perceptions and adoption of digital traceability tools.
Cross-cutting (WEFE Nexus): support on stakeholder engagement, participatory approaches, and policy-relevant insights to strengthen community of practice, governance frameworks and territorial impact.
Open to collaboration as research partner or work package leader, contributing qualitative and mixed-methods research, stakeholder integration and socio-economic impact assessment.
Full Professor (UAB) and Head of Department with over 20 years of academic experience in social and economic anthropology. Principal Investigator with a strong track record in competitive research projects and international collaboration networks. Author of 9 books and over 35 peer-reviewed articles, with sustained publication in indexed journals and interdisciplinary fields. Extensive experience supervising PhD research (7 completed, several ongoing) and leading research groups on economic anthropology, social networks and Mediterranean livelihoods. Proven expertise in ethnographic and mixed-methods research, with fieldwork in diverse socio-economic contexts Malaysia, Mexico, Spain) and strong engagement with policy-relevant research, social innovation and knowledge transfer. Collaborative and reliable team member, with experience in interdisciplinary environments and consortium-based research. Strong interest in expanding academic and research networks across Europe and contributing to long-term partnerships within the PRIMA framework.
