The Biotechnology Research Center “C.R.Bt” is the first national research center in biotechnology under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; the center’s headquarters are located in Constantine. It is responsible for carrying out scientific research programs and technological development in the fields of biotechnology. The center’s main objective is “the development of research in a sustainable development approach, particularly the one that is applied in the field of agricultural biotechnologies and environmental biotechnology.” CRBt has experience in multidisciplinary projects addressing the circular bioeconomy and sustainable farming systems in semi-arid conditions.
We are seeking partners with expertise in:
decentralized waste processing systems and engineering,
composting and biotransformation technologies,
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and techno-economic analysis,
pilot deployment and industrial scaling (SMEs).
Our team will play a core role in both scientific development and demonstration, including:
isolation and optimization of native PGPR consortia to enhance bioconversion efficiency,
development of biofertilizer formulations from food loss and waste,
implementation of pilot systems under semi-arid Mediterranean conditions (Algeria),
agronomic validation through field trials (soil health, crop productivity),
contribution to regional adaptation and scalability of the system.
The Algerian context offers:
high availability of perishable agri-food losses,
strong relevance for climate-resilient agriculture,
excellent conditions for testing scalability across Mediterranean regions.
