National Water Research Center (NWRC) is Egypt’s leading governmental research institution specialized in water resources management, irrigation, drainage, and environmental studies. The center operates under the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and plays a key role in supporting national strategies related to water sustainability and climate change adaptation. NWRC conducts applied research, technical studies, and field investigations, and provides scientific and engineering consultations to support decision-making and improve the efficiency of water systems. The organization also contributes to capacity building, training programs, and the development of innovative solutions for sustainable water management in Egypt.

We are seeking collaboration with Mediterranean research institutions, universities, SMEs, and technical stakeholders to jointly develop and validate an innovative ICT-based remote and non-invasive monitoring and control system for early detection and management of crop diseases and pest infestation. The proposed collaboration aims to integrate AI-driven image analysis (computer vision), IoT sensor networks, remote sensing data, and decision-support tools to provide real-time monitoring, early warning alerts, and optimized intervention strategies.
We are particularly interested in partners with expertise in plant pathology, pest management, remote sensing (satellite/drone-based monitoring), AI and machine learning, and smart agriculture platforms. Field partners and pilot sites (farms, irrigation schemes, agricultural authorities) are also needed for system deployment, validation, and impact assessment under real Mediterranean conditions.
This collaboration will support the development of scalable solutions that enhance crop resilience, reduce pesticide use, and improve sustainability and productivity in Mediterranean agroecosystems.
We are open to building a strong consortium under PRIMA RIA 2026 and actively contribute to proposal writing, technical work packages, system integration, and pilot implementation. NWRC can support field validation activities, provide access to relevant irrigation and agricultural environments, and contribute expertise in water-related monitoring, data acquisition, and applied research. We are interested in partners ready for co-development, sharing datasets, and joint dissemination activities across Mediterranean countries.
