Water distribution pipe monitoring: Acoustic correlation, pressure transient monitoring, and predictive pipe condition assessment for Non-Revenue Water (NRW) reduction and distribution network resilience. We develop and produce acoustic sensors for all types and pipe diameters and develop an agentic water framework that identifies the problems and suggests best mode of action.
1. Collaboration Profile & Objective
Aquarius Spectrum (AQS), an Aliaxis company, is seeking strategic research, industrial, and utility partners to co-develop, validate, and deploy advanced Digital Water and predictive infrastructure resilience solutions.
While traditional leak detection relies on periodic manual surveys or passive anomaly alarms, AQS bridges the physical and digital domains by combining continuous high-frequency acoustic sensing, pressure transient capture, and physics-informed AI. Our objective is to join or form transnational consortia to demonstrate how multi-modal field telemetry—fused with GIS network topology and hydraulic digital twins—transforms water network management from reactive repairs to autonomous root-cause diagnostics, structural condition assessment, and predictive capital allocation.
2. What AQS Brings to the Consortium (Our Offer)
High-Sensitivity Sensing & Edge/Cloud Analytics: Field-proven acoustic correlating loggers, accelerometers, and clamp-on hydrophone technology engineered for challenging plastic (PE/PVC) distribution networks and large-diameter transmission mains.
Advanced Signal Processing & AI: Proprietary time-of-arrival (TOA) cross-correlation, multi-spectral dispersion compensation, and recurrent deep-learning classifiers trained on over a decade of verified acoustic telemetry across thousands of pipe miles.
Predictive Asset Health & Resilience Modules:
Pipe Condition Assessment: Continuous estimation of structural degradation, wall-loss horizons, and material fatigue.
Hydraulic Capacity Calibration: Dynamic calculation of effective internal roughness (Hazen-Williams C-factors) and restriction bottlenecks derived from acoustic wave travel times.
Transient & Surge Monitoring: Sub-second tracking of water-hammer propagation and cyclic stress cycles linked to pump/valve operations.
Interoperable, API-First Architecture: Lightweight, event-driven data models (semantic “Event Tokens” and REST APIs) built for seamless ingestion into enterprise GIS (e.g., Esri ArcGIS Utility Network), SCADA, and hydraulic simulation platforms without requiring bespoke dashboard deployments.
Industrial Backing & Proven Deployments: Extensive active deployments across Western Europe (France, Italy, Spain), the United States, and Asia, backed by the industrial manufacturing footprint and scale of Aliaxis.
3. Profiles & Partners Sought
We are actively seeking collaboration with three primary categories of partners:
Water Utilities & Municipal Network Operators (Pilot Hosts / End Users):
Role: Host pilot testbeds in real-world distribution or transmission networks facing high Non-Revenue Water (NRW), aging infrastructure, or severe pressure dynamics.
Contribution: Network access, District Metered Area (DMA) flow/pressure baseline data, and validation of automated work-order generation for field crews.
Academic & Research Institutes (Hydraulic Modeling / Water Informatics):
Role: Co-develop and validate neuro-symbolic AI models, agentic root-cause frameworks, and data-fusion algorithms.
Contribution: Expertise in hydraulic transient analysis, digital-twin state estimation, network reliability benchmarking, and academic dissemination/reporting.
Enterprise Smart Water & Data-Fusion Software Providers:
Role: Co-integrate specialized acoustic/transient analytics into broader municipal asset management systems, GIS spatial hubs, or hydraulic simulation engines (e.g., Innovyze/Autodesk, Esri, Baseform, Bentley).
Contribution: Providing open data platforms, SCADA historians, and unified operational interfaces.
