Association Green Development and Innovation (GDI) is an active NGO at local, regional and national levels, working in sustainable agriculture, agroecology and circular bioeconomy. The association focuses on innovative and environmentally friendly solutions related to intercropping, agroforestry, agro-food systems, food loss and waste management, insect-based protein production, organic waste treatment and valorization, biodiversity conservation and plant adaptation to climate change. GDI has experienced persons in implementing international and Mediterranean R&D projects. In fact, the association established a large network with local farmers and companies working in the field of agriculture, by supporting and providing infrastructure for conducting several research activities in a close cooperation between researchers and farmers, which allow to combine new research concepts with local know-how. Our activities include R&D projects and field trials, demonstration sites, access to agricultural equipment, controlled growing facilities, greenhouse, laboratories for analysis, technology transfer, and capacity-building programs to support farmers and stakeholders in adopting sustainable practices.

At the GDI demonstration site, we carry out field trials on a variety of crops, including legumes, cereals, and vegetables, with the aim of testing and promoting more sustainable agricultural practices such as organic fertilization, intercropping and agroforestry. Alongside this, we run a pilot unit for animal and insect rearing, using different feed formulations and the production and promotion of insect-based protein and organic fertilizers.
We are open to collaboration, as partner, on the development of novel agriculture solutions and approaches and are interested in working with partners to turn innovative ideas into practical, market-ready products.
