Sabanci University Nanotechnology Research and Application Center (SUNUM), is a multidisciplinary
research center equipped with the state-of-the-art infrastructure in the field of Nanotechnology. The three
main research themes of SUNUM are “Nanomaterial Synthesis & Characterization; Nanostructure Design &
Synthesis; Micro / Nano System Design, Integration”, developing pivot technologies for various sectoral
applications.
“Nanomaterials & Nanostructures” is SUNUM’s horizontal theme where its researchers are focusing on
developing new, more efficient sustainable materials for a wide array of industrial sectors. SUNUM is
engaged in highly effective multidisciplinary research programs in advanced materials, nano-bio technology,
nano-medicine, nano-electronics, nano-optics, micro/nano fabrication and renewable energy systems.
SUNUM Laboratories provide an extensive variety of laboratory services using the most modern technology
and methodologies to get the most accurate and reliable results. SUNUM has Clean Room with an area of
850 m 2 for micro and nanofabrication processes such as patterning/lithography, thin film deposition/coating,
dry/wet etching, test/characterization/packaging.
SUNUM services are routinely offered in the following labs:
• Class 100-1000 (ISO 5-6) Clean Room for Micro/Nanofabrication
• Material Characterization Lab
• Advanced Electron Microscopy Lab
• Advanced Microscopy Techniques Lab
• Genomics and Nanobiotechnology Lab
• 3D System Design and Fabrication Lab
• Tissue & Regenerative Engineering Lab
• Anechoic Chamber
• Microfluidics & Microthermal Systems Lab
• Energy Lab
• Other services: Ball milling, High- and Oxford Triton 400, 10 mK, 12 Tesla Cryostat

2D materials, graphene, MXene, sensor, water desalination, photothermal
My group specializes in sythesis and modification of 2D materials with remarkable photothermal and electrical properties which can be used in water desallination and sensors targetting Topic 1.1.1-2026 (IA), Topic 2.2.1-2026 (RIA).
I am a principal investigator at SUNUM, leading a group that focuses on developing multifunctional graphene- and MXene-based nanocomposites for tissue engineering and energy storage. I have over 15 years of experince in synthesis, surface funstionalization and characterization of graphene oxide and MXene. I am the co-investigator of the GRAPH-OCD 223N171 project funded by FLAGERA JTC2023 and contribute to 223M269 TUBITAK 1001, 223M347 COST Action CA22123, CETP-2023-00278, and Hop-On VanillaFlow 101214927. I am a member of the Early Career Researcher Editorial Board at Graphene and 2D Materials, Springer Nature and on the Advisory Panel of Nanotechnology, IOPP. I also hosts an MSCA postdoc fellow via the NanoBio4Can co-fund platform.
