We are a municipality in northen Greece which mainly is an agricultural region. The area of the municipality is 935 sq m. and we have large agricultural areas, livestock, logging, beekeeping etc. The professionals and workers in the agri-food and livestock sector are facing many difficulties such as aging of the population involved in agriculture, reluctance of young people to work in the sector, the consequences of the climate crisis such as water shortages, drought, rising temperatures etc. Additionally, the increase in the prices of production factors such as energy, fertilizers, and animal feed is not aligned with the increase in the prices at which farmers and livestock breeders sell their products. Finally, the latest years the Plant diseases and zoonoses are becoming more resistant and new and more effective drugs are required that have the fewest possible side effects on the environment and the health of animals and humans. In that framework the municipality of Almopia would like to contribute and to indirectly help rural development creating better working conditions and maintaining the rural population in the region.

We have the ability to mobilize a large number of farmers to actively participate in an ambitious project that could help in the direction of the enviromental sustainability, better water management, reducing the production cost, producing healthier products, using new and more effective animal medicines and pesticides that would not affect the flora and fauna.
