PRIMA 2026 – Research Partner in Functional Foods & Agro-Waste Valorization
Süleyman Demirel University (SDU) is a public research university in Türkiye with strong expertise in food science and technology. The Department of Food Engineering conducts multidisciplinary research focusing on functional foods, fermentation, agro-industrial waste valorization, and sustainable food systems. The research team has extensive experience in the extraction and characterization of bioactive compounds (e.g., polyphenols, pectin), development of functional food products, and bioactive/biodegradable packaging materials. Advanced analytical infrastructure is available, including HPLC-DAD/RID, GC-MS/FID, Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The team is actively involved in national and international research projects and aims to contribute to innovative, sustainable, and circular solutions in Mediterranean agri-food value chains.

DESCRIPTION

We are looking to join a consortium for PRIMA 2026 under Thematic Area 3. Our team (Süleyman Demirel University, Department of Food Engineering, Türkiye) offers strong expertise in: – Functional food development and fermentation (including kefir-based systems) – Prebiotic and antidiabetic activity assessment – Agro-waste valorization (pectin, polyphenols, biopolymers) – Bioactive and sustainable food packaging – Advanced analytical techniques (HPLC-DAD/RID, GC-MS/FID, Raman, XRD) We are interested in contributing to projects focusing on: – Development of value-added functional food products from Mediterranean raw materials – Valorization of agro-industrial side streams – Shelf-life improvement and smart/bioactive packaging – Analytical characterization and bioactivity evaluation – Integration of sustainability and circular economy approaches We are open to collaborating as a research partner and contributing to experimental work, product development, and analytical validation within multidisciplinary consortia.

REMARKS

We are particularly interested in joining consortia with strong industry involvement. We can actively contribute to laboratory-scale; analytical and bioactivity assessments. Previous experience in food science and sustainable material development is available upon request.
