  • The Agropastoralism Research Center (CRAPast) is a public scientific and technological establishment with a sectoral vocation
    The center is responsible for carrying out scientific research and technological development programs in the field of agropastoralism, including:
    — research on pastoral planning to combat desertification and the introduction of new
    cultural practices;

    — the study of the different nutritional characteristics of steppe plants in order to use them in the agropastoral industrial field and the creation of new pastoral varieties that are resistant and productive in the conditions
    steppe;
    — the exploitation of the genetic variability of local species in order to improve the adaptation of vegetation
    pastoral;

    — the development of new techniques for valorizing water resources through the creation of infrastructure
    appropriate pastoral hydraulics and irrigation;
    — the study of the impacts on the management and operation of the infrastructure built and their valorization;
    — the study of the effects of water and saline stress on the development of the production of pastoral species;
    — the phenotypic and genotypic study and breeding systems in order to optimize operating methods for
    preservation of local animal breeds (goats, sheep, camels and horses);
    — research into the best processes for improving and developing local products and by-products
    breeding, meeting consumer needs;

    — the introduction of modern reproduction techniques (animal and plant);
    — the introduction of new processes to improve the traditional activities of rural women.
