Dr. Gharbi Yaakoub works as Plant Pathologist in Olive Tree Research Center, University of Sfax at present. He earned his Ph. D degree from the Faculty of Science of Sfax, in 2015. He went to Canada (University of Manitoba) as postdoctoral associate in 2016, where he gained extensive knowledge on molecular plant pathology, plant physiology, and molecular responses in relation to biotic stress tolerance. His research focused on Verticillium Wilt of Olive, the most destructive fungal disease in olive worldwide. Now, his work is focusing on new biological control approaches for fungal diseases threatening olive trees, either by selecting antagonist bacteria from different biological samples or by testing new formulations of seafood waste composts. Dr. Gharbi Yaakoub has a good experience in plant pathology, diagnosis of plant diseases, and plant - pathogen interactions. He has published more than 30 publications in reputed journals and serving as reviewer in different journals including, Frontiers in Plant Science, Agronomy, Physiological and Molecular Plant Pathology and Microorganisms.
