DESCRIPTION

We are looking to join or co-develop a consortium under Topics 1.2.1 and 2.2.1 of the PRIMA 2025 call. Our interest lies in the integration of veterinary science, animal health management, and ecosystem-based farming approaches to promote agroecological transitions and sustainable coexistence within Mediterranean wetlands and surrounding regions. We propose contributions in the following areas: Designing and evaluating livestock systems compatible with conservation goals in sensitive ecosystems such as wetlands Implementing and monitoring agroecological practices (e.g. rotational grazing, herbal therapeutics, natural fertilization with ruminants) Reducing the use of antimicrobials by applying phytotherapeutic and holistic animal health approaches Enhancing farmer-veterinarian communication for behavior change and biosecurity awareness Developing and delivering capacity-building programs for local stakeholders (farmers, veterinarians, local authorities) Our approach supports both ecological conservation and resilient rural livelihoods, aiming to demonstrate that livestock farming and nature conservation can successfully coexist through agroecological innovation and stakeholder engagement.

REMARKS

We are based in Türkiye with strong links to livestock farming communities, particularly in areas close to Mediterranean wetland zones. Our institution provides clinical and field research capacities, including access to farms, veterinarians, and stakeholders. We are open to collaborating as a Work Package Leader or active task contributor, especially in components related to animal health, pasture-based farming, ecosystem services, or community training in vulnerable agroecosystems.
