The UG institute applying to the funding programme is the Higher Institute of Applied Biology of Medenine (ISBAM). The recently established Institute (2004) offers a collection of applied biology programs within three departments (Food sciences, Biotechnology, and Environmental sciences). Based on the multidisciplinary competencies of the personnel, the UG-ISBAM carries out research activities in many food areas including Food safety and Food technology. ISBAM offers an applied degree in Biotechnology: Food Quality, Safety and Hygiene Conservation and three Professional Master of Science: (i) Valorization of Plant Bioresources, (ii) Food Quality and Safety, and (iii) Arido Biotechnological Entrepreneurship. The ISBAM Research Laborotory "Biodiversity, Molecules and Applications“ offers an opportunity to conduct research activities to better understanding the plant responses at cellular, tissue, whole plant and ecosystem level.

We are a multidisciplinary research team working across integrative levels of complexity, from genes to whole organisms, both in ecosystems and agrosystems. As a concept and measurable entities, the biodiversity is also involved to pursue best-practice guidelines for restoration, conservation and sustainable management. Then, developing and biotechnological solutions and applications would be issued to address challenging topics, ranging from food security to climate change
