PS-Eau is a multi-stakeholder network financed mainly by the French Development Agency (AFD), with the mission to facilitate multi-actors exchange, strenghten the capacity of non-gouvernemental actors working in the water and sanitation sectors, and stimulate french-decentralized cooperation.
In the Mediterranean basin, this is achieved by the animation of "country networks", dedicated to actors intervening in Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia and Lebanon. Moreover, in Lebanon (and in other countries in other regions of the world), pS-Eau has created local multi-stakeholder platforms, intended to become autonomous, targeting local actors in the water and sanitation sectors. Thus, in Lebanon, LEWAP - LEbanese Water Actors Platform, is well-knows for its role of centralizing and disseminating information, organizing workhops... making connections between the Ministry of Water, regional water institutions, municipalities, universities, researchers and students, NGOs and international donors, and Lebanese civil society organizations.
PS-Eau is an french association which does not pursue its own field projects, but provides resources, offers advice, leads conferences and trainings....Targeting French decentralized and non-governmental cooperation actors and their partners in the countries of intervention : local authorities, associations, civil society organizations, compagnies, universities. PS-Eau also maintains close ties with bilateral cooperation actors (national development agencies, ministries, consultants...) and provides them with information on the dynamics of decentralized cooperation.
Our "knowledge production" activities allow us to enrich the material made available for these animation and consulting activities. Numerous research works and pilot experimentations are carried out to strengthen water and sanitation services. PS-Eau aims to redistribute knowledge to local actors, through publications (methodological and technical guides, bibliographic resource guides) and animation of multi-actor seminars linking researchers, local authorities and civil society organizations. We can also play the role of facilitator of networks and multi-stakeholder working groups on certain topics. For instance, a partnership is currently underway with INRAE (French Institute of Agronomic Research) and two Moroccan (UCA) and Senegalese (ISE) universities, on the theme of recovery in sanitation systems (wastewater and sludge), with a particular interest in the centralized treatment of sludge from non collective sanitation.
See our reference publications, resulting from this type of approach, mainly in French, but translated in the the targeted countries’ langages, if necessary.
