The Environmental Modeling Laboratory (EML) operates within the Department of Environmental Engineering of Dokuz Eylül University (DEU), a large scale (3714 academic personnel and +70000 students) higher education and research ecosystem. The EML consists of researchers with various professional backgrounds in the fields of Environmental Engineering and Science, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, and Atmospheric Sciences. Currently, the EML is actively leading research and applied science/engineering projects dealing with the mathematical modeling of flow and transport in different types of environmental media, simulation-optimization solutions for environmental systems, integrated water resources management at the watershed scale, and exploitation of earth observation databases for the advancement of modeling processes.
Our organization is classified as a "Research University", which is a merit awarded to the best 20 universities in Turkiye. DEU researchers are involved in numerous research activities funded by the European Commission, bilateral international research programmes, and the national funding agency TUBITAK. - Topic 1.1.1-2023 (IA) Integrated adaptive wastewater management plans in the Mediterranean region. | Topic 2.1.1-2023 (RIA) New governance models to define best practices for sustainable water management and conflict mitigation.
- Topic 1.4.1-2023 (IA) Accelerate adaptation and mitigation to climate change in the Mediterranean region by deploying WEFE nexus solutions.

We seek collaboration to act as a project partner or work package leader in research studies involving environmental modeling with emphasis on surface water and groundwater quality and fate and transport of nutrients and other specific pollutants. We are particularly interested in using smart technologies and remote sensing that integrate data analytics with environmental transport models to assess the current status of water resources, mitigate water shortages due to quality and/or quantity issues and adapt to future scenarios.
Our research group is experienced in collaborating in international projects. Currently we are involved in two ongoing PRIMA funded research projects. We would be interested in being work package leaders in a project consortium, and are looking for opportunities to join a partnership with the current 2023 call for project proposals under the theme Water Management and WEFE Nexus. -
