Nourish the pastoralist Nation: Ethiopian Somali Honey Value Chain
Ethiopia produces more honey than any other country in Africa. Honey is in high demand in the country, with 80% of it being used for domestic consumption and traditional medicine. Both in Ethiopia and abroad, a market attentive to honey quality has emerged, with a particular type of honey from the Somali region bringing a significant demand. Thus, collaborative research and innovative application of the Agri-food value chain in the developed countries and local under-developed regions are thought to be crucial.
