Participate as a partner in a PRIMA project proposal (Management of Water or WEF Nexus)
Topic 1.1.1 (RIA) Sustainable soil and water management for combating land degradation and desertification and promoting ecosystem restoration
Nexus Energy- water-food, Sustainable use of water, Sustainable water management and irrigation systems, Water quality Assessment, Water scarcity, Water use efficiency, Water-Energy-Food Nexus, biofuel modelling, models of Forecast of Energy and Water Consumption, real-time water quality monitoring, water availability, water balances, water catchment, water management, water quality, water resources management, water stress, water sustainability, water use and reuse, water, agriculture, climate, watershed management
We seek to participate in a PRIMA proposal either in the Management of Water or WEF Nexus area. Water resources management under water stress, hydrologic and water quality modelling in small and large river basins, watershed simulation including agricultural practices and biofuel cropping for bioenergy production, evaluation of the ecosystem status and ecosystem services, development of tools and DSSs are some of our interests related to this call.
DESCRIPTION OF YOUR ORGANISATION:
The institute of inland waters (https://imbriw.hcmr.gr/) of the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research is the leading public research institution in Greece, focusing on inland water ecosystems, with a key role in the Mediterranean region and the EU. We deal with water monitoring studies, surface and groundwater modelling, water resources and integrated river basin management. The mission of IMBRIW is accomplished through (a) carrying out multidisciplinary and integrated field, laboratory and experimental research, both basic and applied investigations; (b) ecological quality assessments and monitoring of inland waters; (c) undertaking specific pilot studies, developing new tools and designing management plans on specific issues for national, Mediterranean and EU institutional bodies and (d) disseminating information and knowledge on major achievements through publications and a variety of organized events.
The Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area will devise new R&I approaches to improve water availability and sustainable agriculture production in a region heavily distressed by climate change, urbanisation and population growth
The PRIMA programme is an Art.185 initiative supported and funded under Horizon 2020, the European Union’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
