DESCRIPTION OF COLLABORATION:
We are a research team with diverse backgrounds (Computer Science, Electronics, Automation and Robotics) and we offer expertise in developing complete integrations for smart farming, water and soil management leveraging our set of distinctive tools: High performance computing, Cloud-based architecture, image processing, IoT, Deep Learning, Automation and Optimization. Our contributions include but are not limited to:
1- Image processing methods based on Deep Learning for crop analysis of cultures.
2- Drones and robotic controls for automated agricultural operations.
3- Cloud based Remote sensing solutions.
4- Remote sensor data transmissions based on LoRA-based (Long Range Transmission) for farming zones with limited telecommunication infrastructure.
5- High performance Cloud-based Data Analysis.
6- Automated systems for water and soil treatments.
We note that our local socio-economic partners guarantee for us pilot sites for the deployment of solutions.
DESCRIPTION OF YOUR ORGANISATION:
Originally established in the early 2000s, with a focus on medical imaging and high-performance computing, our research team has witnessed tremendous transformation and evolution over the past two decades. Our researchers with diverse backgrounds (Computer Science, Electronics, Automation and Robotics) have accumulated expertise in several fields: Complex Systems, High performance computing, Cloud architecture, image processing, IoT, Deep Learning, Automation, Optimization.
Lately, we have been more interested in smart integrations of the mentioned components to create complex solutions. Our priority has shifted to new areas that can better benefit, especially those sensitive to environment, such as agriculture and water management.
We had many fruitful partnerships with European and International Organizations. One of our researchers is a founding member of Complex Systems Digital Campus-UniTwin - UNESCO (cs-dc.org) and managed a STIC-INRIA project as well as another bilateral CMEP research project between our LRPE – USTHB Algiers team and the LIRIS laboratory of the University of Lyon2. We had also a Research Project in T.I.C.E. with Res @ Tice – AUF.
PRIMA is new to us and we would like to build new partnerships as a bootstrapping opportunity to get involved in these issues while offering our distinguished toolset to the community.
REMARKS:
The Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area will devise new R&I approaches to improve water availability and sustainable agriculture production in a region heavily distressed by climate change, urbanisation and population growth
The PRIMA programme is an Art.185 initiative supported and funded under Horizon 2020, the European Union’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
