We hope to collaborate with a laboratory working on any type of project aimed at enhancing products of plant origin. Algeria, due to its climate and the nature of its soils, has a flora particularly rich in medicinal and aromatic plants, and the medicinal use of plants is one of the oldest therapeutic practices. Today, herbs are widely used and especially recommended by therapists and public health organizations. On the basis of traditional therapist uses, many authors have tried to deepen our knowledge of medicinal plants and their preventive and curative effect in addition to metabolic orders.
DESCRIPTION OF YOUR ORGANISATION:
The Applied Biochemistry laboratory brings together 5 research teams and more than 30 researchers. the laboratory carries out research work which mainly concerns the valorization of plant extracts (medicinal plants, fruits and vegetables, ...) for food and non-food purposes.
The field of activity covers:
- extraction (different conditions), purification and identification of bioactive molecules (pharmacological components)
- evaluation of target functionalities (antioxidant, antimicrobial effects, etc.)
for better product efficiency, nanoformulation and vestorisation is an area that we have also exploited
We are a team of young, ambitious and active researchers. Our objective is to promote the products of our research. turn these products into products with a socio-economic impact
The Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area will devise new R&I approaches to improve water availability and sustainable agriculture production in a region heavily distressed by climate change, urbanisation and population growth
The PRIMA programme is an Art.185 initiative supported and funded under Horizon 2020, the European Union’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
