We are looking for a partnership in PRIMA projects
Preventing and controlling emergence of animal and plant diseases (Section 2)
Implementing innovation in Mediterranean agro-food chains by smallholders and SMEs (Section 1) Valorising food products from traditional Mediterranean diet (Section 2) Food safety in local food chains (Section 2)
The agro-food industry is looking for new or low-cost additives (bioactive molecules) with stable and efficient performances in order to optimize and increase the benefits of its production. Consequently, the exploitation of high-performance microbial biodiversity can contribute to improve the food process and becomes an essential economic necessity for sustainable development. In this context, our multidisciplinary team working on different axes, especially in the characterization of local microbial biodiversity (Bacillus) and biotechnological potential of their metabolites (biosurfactants) to converting them into nutraceutical sector. We are willing to share our experience as a public research center located in Algeria and we are interested in joining an consortium as a partner.
The present proposal has been planned, at the first step, to screen of performing bacterial strains for their ability to 1) produce antimicrobial compounds, 2) evaluates emulsifying activity and enzymatic activity, 3) confirm the safety of isolates with biotechnological potential selected previously. The second step of this project has been designed to: 1) standardize fermentation process (optimal conditions to achieve an efficient production process), 2) valorization of agroindustrial byproducts as C/N source, 3) characterization of crude extracts products showing interesting abilities of emulsion/antibiosis, 4) propose alternative strategy for controlling diseases with promising bio-control agents, 5) incorporate the produced biosurfactants for prolonging shelf life of some food products.
DESCRIPTION OF YOUR ORGANISATION:
The aim of this collaboration is to combine the complementary experience of different research teams with a reciprocal contribution of skills and experimental capacities. It will be an important asset for the achievement and success of this project to lead to patent industrial microbial solutions with promoting biological compounds, minimize the use of synthetic chemical compounds and contributing to the preservation of the environment.
The Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area will devise new R&I approaches to improve water availability and sustainable agriculture production in a region heavily distressed by climate change, urbanisation and population growth
The PRIMA programme is an Art.185 initiative supported and funded under Horizon 2020, the European Union’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
