NAME OF ORGANISATION:
Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens
Utilization of (bio)sensing systems for the valorization of the food quality of food products and by-products. Development of customized solutions for sample pretreatment (olive oil, milk, nuts) and detection of the most common contaminants in these food categories (antibiotics, pesticides, mycotoxins, heavy metals, etc. )
DESCRIPTION OF YOUR ORGANISATION:
The Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens (BRFAA) is the most recent addition to the Life Sciences Research organizations in Greece, which begun its activities in 2004. The main goal of BRFAA is to achieve excellence in the Biomedical Sciences by recruiting high quality investigators carrying out cutting-edge basic and translational research. Our team has extensive expertise in the development of sensors and biosensors for medical, environmental and food applications through its participation in EC and national funded projects.
The Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area will devise new R&I approaches to improve water availability and sustainable agriculture production in a region heavily distressed by climate change, urbanisation and population growth
The PRIMA programme is an Art.185 initiative supported and funded under Horizon 2020, the European Union’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
