Our expertise and capabilities are related to technological adaptation of existing solutions for the authenticity control of Mediterranean food products in official control laboratories that are at the vanguard in food analysis research.
The objective is to develop and implement more versatile, universal and efficient solutions through specific food markers which confirm their authenticity. In particular, we are interested in the application to honey.
To do this, it will be necessary to identify protocols and tools aiming at increasing the added value of the Mediterranean origin honey linked to their biological and geographical origin and devoted to food characterisation and authenticity determination. We are specially interested in honey (unifloral and species discrimination). Attention will be paid to existing food databases and infrastructures so as to improve data harmonisation and interoperability. Finally, we are interested in developing specialized services aimed at improving consumers’ and markets’ trust.
DESCRIPTION OF YOUR ORGANISATION:
It is a public agency that falls under the Regional Ministry for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development of Andalusia. It has competences in Agri-food inspection and control and it is made up of six Agri-food laboratories located in the different provinces of the region.
